I've Only Built Her Cloud from the album "Avocado Faultline" Words & Music by Terry Scott Taylor ©2000 Zoom Daddy Music (BMI) I've got a princess who wears a second hand dress She tells me "Baby, I know you've done your best" Though I've found comfort In the love we vowed I can't help thinkin' that I've let her down Well, I'd do anything to make her proud Deserves a castle I've only built her a cloud Each day I work hard, But time, it is no friend One day you look up and find you're near the end There are some words too dark to say aloud like how you're thinkin' that there's no way out Though she's got faith in me I have my doubts Dservers a castle I've only built her a cloud She says "This cloud is pretty close to heaven, we should count our lucky stars" I've heard each cloud has a silver lining, but I just see the rain in ours Love to surprise her, give her diamonds and pearls If I could do it she knows I'd give her the world Though I've found comfort in the love we've vowed I can't help thinkin' that I've let her down I'd do anything to make her proud Deserves a castle I've only built her a cloud

The Everlasting Man To GK Chesterton words and music: Terry Scott Taylor ©2018 Shape of Air Music, BMI I ran into Chesterton outside the bar one sultry summer day Roly-poly, sweating, he was wrapped in woolen folds of gray St. Francis stood beside him, here’s what they had to say “Everlasting Man, we see that you’ve still got your chest” “Spread the good news,” Francis grinned, then added “Sometimes words are best” “I concur,” laughed G.K., (pipe in hand, he checked the watch pulled from his vest) “Go on about your business so you can finally get some rest” “Prayers and fasting For what we’re asking Since this is not a small request Love the saved, love the damned, Great and small, Like you they’re all The Everlasting Man The Everlasting Man The Everlasting Man The Everlasting Man” I found the man called Thursday in the corner alone, quietly drinking beer Though I knew he wasn’t thirsty since he’s always seated here His skin brushed bright ethereal as he whispered to me loud and clear “Everlasting Man, I see that you’ve still got your chest” Then he spilled his drink and with a wink said, “Let the owner clean this mess While you go about your business since you understand it more or less Run along now son though it’s been fun to have you as my guest Prayers and fasting For what I’m asking Since this is not a small request Love the save, love the damned Like you and me Each one you see's The Everlasting Man The Everlasting Man The Everlasting Man The Everlasting Man I sighed and closed the book in a room filled with the cold of an endless winter’s day Father leaned back in his wingback chair saying “Son, you seem so very far away” His face was crowded with familiar faces, it was no surprise to hear him say “Everlasting Man, I see that you’ve still got your chest And to do what you must do my boy, you will need to leave the nest” Rising to my feet I said, “Father I will do my best Since this is more than business; it truly is a quest” In father’s face I could clearly see The one’s I’d met, this Trinity Where three are one, and one is three And to the saved, and to the damned To the small and the great I Am The Everlasting Man The Everlasting Man The Everlasting Man…..

Holy Night, Darkest Night from the Lost Dogs album "Nazarene Crying Towel" (Words and Music by Terry Taylor) ©2002 Zoom Daddy Music (BMI) In through the dark Into his heart Deep into deep we go under The only beloved The loved of the loved How can we speak of the wonder? Holy night Darkest night Deadly the wounds The beautiful wounds Healed in the clash of His thunder Blood on the nails Pinning the veil The lightning that flashed tore asunder Holy night Darkest night

I Get To Wondering from the album "Mr Buechner's Dream" Music by Daniel Amos, Words by T.S. Taylor ©2001 Shape of Air Music/BMI Are you hiding in this cloud, (I get to wondering) Behind this dark and angry shroud, (I get ot wondering) Among the strangers in the crowd? (I get to wondering) Chorus: I get to wondering (3x) If I've loved you at all Were you the one behind the wheel (I get to wondering) In the hands that struck the deal? (I get to wondering) Would I want what you conceal? (I get to wondering) Repeat chorus Were those real tears I cried? Was that a real death I died I'm wondering... I'm looking through the bevelled glass (I get to wondering) Was that your shadow going past? (I get to wondering) Are these your footsteps in the grass? (I get to wondering)

Sensible Shoes And Action Slacks words and music: Terry Scott Taylor ©2018 Shape of Air Music, BMI I was drivin’ by the welfare line When I decided to go for broke And thread the eye of a needle With a camel-load of rope Dear, you did what you had to do So I could do what I loved to do But my appetite for dread was fed When I heard from you You said “We need to talk” I thought “Not good..well, not ‘never,’ Hardly ever” I’m takin’ off my sensible shoes And putting on my action slacks I plan to add another thrilling chapter to the book of Acts I’d rather choke in the smoke of a pipe dream Than get crushed by the weight of facts I’m takin’ off my sensible shoes And puttin’ on my action slacks I watch a syncopated dashboard dance (that little lady’s hula never gets old) She’s keeping time to the great Miles Davis Who was too young to be so old I’m told he did what he had to do So he could do what he loved to do And thru the radio speaker’s blue mood fog His smokey voice came through He said “We need to talk” I thought “That’s good…or it’s not, I was never a go getter” I’m takin’ off my sensible shoes And putting on my action slacks AAI plan to add another thrilling chapter to the book of Acts I’d rather choke in the smoke of a pipe dream Than get crushed by the weight of facts I’m takin’ off my sensible shoes And puttin’ on my action slacks It’s time for Scully to call the game I turn my radio down from “stun” 'Cuz his kind of beautiful music Needs no bass and drum He tells me “I agree with brother Miles, You gotta do what you love, with style And before I read the stats, son You gotta pick up the ball and bat, son. No more talk.” I thought “That’s good. Very good” Now I’m Takin’ off my sensible shoes And putting on my action slacks I plan to add another thrilling chapter to the book of Acts I’d rather choke in the smoke of a pipe dream Than get crushed by the weight of facts I’m takin’ off my sensible shoes…. Takin’ off my sensible shoes Puttin’ on my action slacks I’d rather choke in the smoke of a pipe dream Than get crushed by the weight of facts Takin’ off my sensible shoes Puttin’ on my action slacks Takin’ off my Sensible shoes Puttin’ on my Action slacks Soon will come the silent years Spent waiting for the kingdom come We’ll be woken from the sleep that sanctifies By the pounding of celestial drums And we’ll take off our worn out shoes And put on our action slacks

I Will Return from the DA album "Kalhöun" Words by Terry Taylor Music by Terry Taylor, Tim Chandler and Greg Flesch ©1991 Twitchen Vibes/ Brainstorm Artists Int'l.. ASCAP/BMI And the city stood In a glowing splendor 'Til her ashes were laid in an urn Beneath a fast food counter I will return The descendants were born And they danced their dances Then the sound of their stumbling was great Tilting the world off its axis I will return And the women gazed in their mirrors Suitors brought them vials of perfume (quiet lives of desperation) Then golden-haired locusts with the faces of angels Sealed each of them up in a metal cocoon And the life ran out Just when it all seemed better Here is a display in a granite museum A shame on view forever I will return, I will return And the birdcage was eventually opened A great flock of nuns flew away (meeting no one's expectations) And the saints who had slept on the head of a pin Came down from the sky at the end of all days And the city stood In a glowing splendor 'Til her ashes were laid in an urn Beneath a fast food counter I will return (I will be coming like a thief in the night) I will return (I will be coming like a thief in the night)...
