Our night to howl, time to go dancing Brush your hair, clean your dentures It's time for new adventures My toupee's on and I'm ready for romancing Come on pretty baby, let's go a little crazy Our night to howl, time to go dancing Ain't nothing we can't handle, Let's create a little scandal Don't look surprised dear, all I'm 'askin'-- Are you game to take a chance And put the ants back in our pants? Maybe... win a ribbon when we cut the rug? Do the 'nasty nellie' of the 'jitterbug'? Skinny dip in Springfield Pull a heist in Edwardsville? Moon a cop, count the stars, Put the kids back in the will? The cows come home when I see you in your moo-moo You're the apple in my strudel, The kit in my kaboodle It's time to shift some gears, Get our engines out of neutral-- Give the wheel a spin Throw all caution to the wind Our night to howl, time to go dancing Turn up our hearing aids And spike the lemonade Pretend I'm filthy rich, young, and handsome We'll ignore all convention, Release some hot conviction The hour's late and the time is holy You're still my girl My one and only Whistling past the graveyard I think we're safe for now And as long as we're not helpless, baby Let's help ourselves to everything, Everything that God allows We'll teach those young punks Just what class is Honey, you still Fog my glasses Our night to howl, time to go dancing Our night to howl, time to go dancing...

Familiar scene, no dream, I look 'Cross hills of green and woodland brook Then, pulse for pulse The Will speaks soft and low On waves of joy the sweet and fearful flow Sudden heaven has blazed on me Sudden heaven has blazed on me I am taken up I am shaken up (sudden heaven) Where the angels praise In the brilliant daze (sudden heaven) Sudden heaven has blazed on me Black map of woe, dark hungry night Here in my soul I stop the flight The ivy taps upon the window pane I won't resist the One who calls again Sudden heaven has blazed on me Sudden heaven has blazed on me Bliss too great to tell Bright with miracle (sudden heaven) As it would ever be Safe, forever free (sudden heaven) Sudden heaven has blazed on me My Lord, how long will heaven keep The days beyond the midnight sleep? Then, pulse for pulse The Will speaks soft and low On waves of joy the sweet and tearful flow Sudden heaven has blazed on me Sudden heaven has blazed on me I am taken up I am shaken up (sudden heaven) Where the angels praise In the brilliant daze (sudden heaven) Sudden heaven has blazed on me

Every wound is open, Every new organ’s been rejected Every bone is broken, Every last thing has been infected We’ll borrow the eyes of God Behold, the number’s down on new recruits Confused by the infinite as institute And gossamer dressed in a tie and suit The machine of the world grinds on and on Systematic elysian The City On a Hill’s an American Brick and mortar kingdom come We’ll borrow the eyes of God Behold, the shop where dirt-cheap grace is sold, Mysteries solved, and cases easily closed Behind the tenements and the barrios, The broken streets paved with drugs and guns, The blood of the guilty and the innocent ones, The old drunk’s gibberish, and the widow’s crumbs, Stand the dreaming domes of New Jerusalem Come with me, We’ll borrow the eyes of God, Come and see The Healing Tree Hallelujah, see behind the walls The Lamb in the center of our shopping malls, Our fast-food temples, and our city halls Then observe these desecrated works of art, Tracked by algorithms, files, grafts, and charts And cameras poised above their shopping carts Filled with yesterday's news and replacement parts We’ll borrow the eyes of God Angels exhaling a holy breeze, Rustling the leaves that crown The Healing Tree Its sacred pages are medicinal sheets For paralyzed hands and gangrenous feet The word made flesh, an administration Of the salve of mercy’s medication Behold, a healing for the nations! Come with me, We’ll borrow the eyes of God Come with me To The Healing Tree Once blind, we will see We’ve borrowed the eyes of God We’ll fall down on our knees Beneath The Healing Tree The Healing Tree

I found a haystack in a needle I caught an angel in a lie I saw a hypocrite in heaven Remove a log from both his eyes I saw an anvil float on water Water running up a hill An old cheater keep his promise And his hand’s outside the till I saw the last get in first I saw the best in the worst By moving forward in reverse And back again to love Holy, holy love I saw a shepherd king freefalling Off a throne of mud and straw He landed on a bed of nails Proclaiming “Love’s the only law” I saw a dead man who’d been buried Walk around outside his grave The ones we’re told are not worth saving Are the ones now being saved Chorus I found a haystack in a needle I caught an angel in a lie

Do big boys cry? Do they come down From their place on high, to the dirty ground? Well, what do I do, I'm a big boy, too (Cry) They claim fault now and then (big boys cry) In speeches on humility (big boys cry) But do they step down from the stage? (big boys cry) Go forward, (big boys) confess to the crime Weep with the victim? Do big boys cry? Are they a step beyond? Shouting 'bout right, but living wrong? Well, what'll I say, I'm just that way (Cry) There's got to be a break down (big boys cry) A healing in the tears (big boys cry) There's got to be a phone call (big boys cry) Break habits (big boys) One has to apologize, even to the little guys What'll I do, I'm a big boy, too (Cry) They claim fault now and then (big boys cry) In speeches on humility (big boys cry) But do they step down from the stage (big boys cry) Go forward (big boys), confess to the crime Weep with the victim? Do big boys cry? Do they come down from their place on high, to the dirty ground? Well, what'll I do, I'm a big boy, too

Sleeping by the hearth of the earth household Content and relaxed before the fire of life It's becoming like a castle all woven of mist Disintegrating when I want to grab a hold Struggle to go somewhere beyond The earth household, the earth household Go to the other unknowable side Of the earth household, the earth household We chase with the hounds for the meaning of the world The unattainable meaning of the world Now I'm gonna run to the other side Beyond the borderland of death I ride Slip through a tear in the fabric of the world The earth household, the earth household Speak the foreign language of a place beyond The earth household, the earth household I drink you endlessly toward my hollow heart And wake at night repeating "How strange, how strange!" All is touch and vision in a passionate kiss And life's a drab curtain ready to be raised Struggle to go somewhere beyond The earth household, the earth household Go to the other unknowable side Of the earth household, the earth household The earth household, the earth household We chase with the hounds for the meaning of the world...
